I've started work on the diary section. I've written a few pages, about 2,000 words . I think there'll be about ten or so diary entries, which, once written, I will have to slot in between the chapters of the main story. So far I think it's going very well and will make a really good addition to the book :)

I've had a lovely week away from the book. It was nice to just switch off from it because then, as I knew would happen, I got even more inspiration. I have completed the first draft of "Olimpia Valley". The final 2,750 words were written today, completeing the novel. It is currently standing at a whopping 321 pages in length (189,000 words)! The ending was just as big and explosive as I'd hoped - lots of surprises ( Read more... )

I wasn't able to work on the book last week as I'd planned to because I got really sick. But I got back to work today and have just written 5,000 words so I have more than made up for my missed days! I started work on the final chapter of "Olimpia Valley" today. I had to write up a brief synopsis of what was about to unfold so that everything was in the right order but then I just started writing. I needn't have worried because today I finished Chapter 14. I started writing and I just couldn't stop until the end had been reached. Some more things were revealed, which I wasn't expecting, but they're always a treat to find.

My pace of writing has completely slowed down this week. There has been some disruption to my routine due to the snow, which has meant a couple of days off. But when I got back to writing today, although the inspiration was there and I'm more than happy writing, I only got 1500 words completed. That's extremely low for me. Last week turned out to be a bad week for writing. I just didn't seem to be in the right frame of mind to get anything substantial done. Sometimes I over-write, where I'll write so much during a certain period of time that I burn myself out. When that happens I just suddenly can't find the energy or inspiration to sit and write more. After another 4,000 words today I have completed Chapter 13. I think it's the longest chapter of the book spanning about twenty-or-so pages! That's quite a lot of writing. Thursday I wrote a lot. About 5,000 words. That left me exhausted but in a good way :) I was planning on finishing the chapter today but my boyfriend finished work early so my plans went out the window (I cannot write when he's home from work).
